Fall 2026 AI Lunch Club

Join us for four free AI Lunch Club sessions this fall

Our Fall AI Lunch Club is four free, one-hour virtual sessions on Wednesdays at noon Central. Chris Porter and Chris Snider lead the sessions. No prior AI experience is required, and you can attend one, two, three or all four.

Here’s what we’re covering (sign up for all four events here).

Sept. 30: Get More Value from Microsoft Copilot

Most people have access to Copilot through work but aren’t getting much out of it. We’ll go through what’s new in the tool, how it fits into your daily work, and practical examples of how people are using it now.

Oct. 7: How to Use AI as a Design Tool

We’ll cover when AI-generated images make sense and when they don’t, how to make the images you use look less like AI made them, and what you can do with Claude Design.

Oct. 14: Skills, Plugins and Connectors

These are the tools that turn a basic chatbot into something that works alongside you. We’ll cover skills.md files, how to connect AI to your email and calendar, and what plugins from Claude and ChatGPT can do.

Oct. 21: AI’s Rapid Ascent – Do We Need to Be Worried?

This session steps back from the tools to ask a bigger question: how good has AI actually gotten, and what does that mean for the rest of us? We’ll look at how fast the technology is moving, where it’s headed, and what that pace means for jobs, education and daily life.

Why these sessions are free

These events are made possible through a sponsorship from Drake University’s Bucksbaum Lectureship in Business. Award-winning journalists Karen Hao and Nicholas Thompson will deliver this year’s AI-focused lecture, Decoding America’s Tech Moment, Oct. 21 at the Drake University Knapp Center (and live online). The event is free and open to the public.

If you’re joining us Oct. 21, you can do the lunch session at noon and the lecture that evening.
